Motoring
Motoring Offences Pricing
We can provide expert advice and representation in relation to the full range of motoring offences, from death by dangerous driving to more common offences such as driving whilst under the influence of alcohol or drugs, speeding, driving without due care and attention or driving without insurance or a valid licence. We can also assist in presenting exceptional hardship and special reasons arguments in court.
For more serious motoring offences which are dealt with before a Crown Court legal aid could be available. We are contracted with the legal aid agency to provide advice, assistance and representation in such circumstances and will be able to assist you in the assessment of your eligibility for legal aid. We are also able to offer fixed fees for more minor motoring offences which are dealt with in the magistrates’ court and are not covered under the scope of legal aid.
Why Us?
Our experienced team are here to help you in your time of need. The court process can be a stressful one and having someone there to fight your corner and provide you with advice throughout the process can help to alleviate some of the pressure.
As a firm we aim to maintain the highest standards and hold the Legal Aid Agency’s Specialist Quality Mark for our work in this field. We are also part of the Law Society’s Criminal Litigation Accreditation Scheme.
Pricing
Our fees for dealing with motoring offences are dependent upon on whether the plea is Guilty or Not Guilty and the number of hearings involved. All clients regardless of eligibility for legal aid are entitled to a free initial consultation where one of our team will look to capture as much information from you as possible and assess your eligibility for legal aid or otherwise.
Our fees will typically include:
Considering evidence
Providing advice in relation to your plea
Advice as to likely sentence based upon current sentencing guidelines
Advice on exceptional hardship or special reasons arguments
Representation at your initial court hearing
For a fixed fee of £250 plus VAT we are able to offer an initial conference prior to the hearing and representation at a single hearing whether this be a guilty plea or not guilty plea at a single local magistrates’ court (Bradford, Kirklees or Leeds).
We will provide price information on any additional services, such as obtaining witness statements or instructing expert witnesses as appropriate.
Exclusions
Items not included in the above fixed fee include but are not limited to the following;
• Travel to and from magistrates’ courts other than Bradford, Kirklees or Leeds
• Taking statements from any witnesses in preparation for a trial
• Instruction of any expert witnesses
• Representation at a trial in the event of a not guilty plea
• Representation at a secondary hearing where an exceptional hardship or special reasons argument is made
Any additional costs will be discussed with you and agreed in advance of being incurred.
All of our staff are supervised by our Legal Aid Supervisors Rachael Mounsey and Chris McGivern. For more information including details of qualifications and experience of all our staff please email admin@rcmsolicitors.com
